The number of guests were well down for some reason but those that were there were treated to an evening of exceptional boxing.
The evening started with a couple of skills bouts where the youngsters put on a good display of enthusiastic boxing skills, which everyone there enjoyed.
Moving on to the rest of the evening, the bouts were very well matched and lot closer than the scores suggest.
Out of the 6 contest, 5 bouts were judged as split decisions, unfortunately with most in favour of the Welsh team.
The overall score was 5-1 to Wales but on another night, it could easily have been the other way round.
Young Liam Duff lost his fight to Kaelan Brown on a split decision, it really was a cracking contest, both lads gave it their all in a very close tear up which could have gone either way.
Arnie Watson lost to Ethan Poole on a split. Arnie showed flashes of brilliance at times, landing some heavy shots, but the judges preferred his opponents higher work rate.
Josh Lazarou was in another cracking contest against Josh Ogden. Lazarou adopted his preferred back foot counter punching style, while his opponent was on his front foot. A close bout and yet again the judges preferred the higher work rate of Ogden, but it was a very close call.
Finn Walsh lost to Cameron Manley on a split decision. Finn looked to have won rounds 1 and 2 comfortably, whilst letting his opponent back into the bout in round 3.
A good hard-fought contest which really could have gone either way, both boxers were chuffed to earn a very deserved “Bout of the “Night” trophy.
Ruslan Gogercaks lost to Macauley Casey on a unanimous decision, another very close bout with both boxers landing heavy blows at times.
Tommy Teers won on a split decision against a strong opponent Jack Collier.
A good contest with both boxers showing a great mixture of boxing skills from counter punching to boxing on the inside. A great contest to finish the evening.
A massive well done to all concerned.
Let’s have more of the same on April 19th which is the last show of the season.
